Pro Rules
Effective October 18, 2026
Homeowners trust Better Resources because every pro on it follows the same rules. These rules apply to every business on the network, including clients of Digital Footprint Solutions, and they're enforced the same way for everyone. Listing and every network tool are free, and buying anything from Digital Footprint Solutions never changes a rule or a decision.
1. Contact rules
Each request shows how the homeowner chose to be contacted. Those choices are the rule, not a preference.
- Use only the method the homeowner chose: text, email or a phone call.
- Contact them only inside the time window they set (Eastern time). Calls are only ever allowed inside a window.
- Talk to them only about the project they sent.
- Stop immediately when they pause or close contact, or ask you to stop.
- Reply to a new request within 15 minutes during business hours. We time every first reply, and the automatic instant reply does not count. Slower replies lower your score; they are not a violation.
- Never add a homeowner to a marketing list, share their details, or sell them to anyone.
- No pressure tactics, such as repeated calls, false deadlines or scare claims.
2. Compared requests
- Some homeowners choose to compare quotes from up to three pros they picked. You're told how many pros are quoting, never who they are.
- Don't ask who the other pros are, and don't run down other businesses to win the job.
3. License and an honest profile
- Keep your Florida license active and in good standing. We re-check state records; a profile whose license lapses is hidden until it's renewed.
- List only the services your license covers.
- Show only photos of your own work, or photos you have permission to use.
- Keep your business name, service area and details accurate. No made-up credentials, awards or guarantees.
- Tick only the highlights (free estimates, financing, warranty and the rest) that are true for every customer. A highlight that isn't true is a made-up claim: we remove it and it counts as a violation.
4. Reviews
- Never write, buy, swap or arrange reviews, including for yourself or against a competitor.
- Don't offer discounts, gifts or anything else in return for a review, and don't pick and choose which customers are asked to review you.
- Reply to reviews professionally. If you think a review breaks our rules, report it to us; don't pressure the homeowner.
5. Quotes and work
- Give written quotes that state the scope, the price and what isn't included.
- Pull the permits the law requires, and follow Florida construction and consumer protection laws.
- Don't take work you're not licensed or insured to do.
6. Storms and insurance claims
Follow Florida law on residential insurance claims, including section 489.147, Florida Statutes. In particular:
- Don't offer to pay or waive a homeowner's insurance deductible.
- Don't offer gifts, rebates or other incentives to get a homeowner to file a claim or sign a contract.
- Don't interpret insurance policies or negotiate claims for a homeowner unless you hold a Florida adjuster license.
7. Respect and safety
- No harassment, threats, abusive language or discrimination of any kind.
- Respect the homeowner's home, property and privacy. Use their photos and details only for their project.
What happens when a rule is broken
We look at what happened, how serious it was, and whether it has happened before.
- Minor: for example, a message slightly outside the window, or a first slip that caused no harm. We send a written warning, and confirmed contact-rule breaks count against the "Follows your contact choices" part of your score.
- Repeated or clear: for example, contacting a homeowner the wrong way after a warning, ignoring a pause, or a misleading profile. Your score drops, and you stop receiving new requests for 30 days.
- Serious: harassment or threats, selling or sharing homeowner details, fake or bought reviews, work outside your license, a lapsed license, fraud, or breaking Florida storm and insurance claim law. Your profile is suspended straight away and can be removed for good. Where the law requires it, we report the matter to the proper authority.
Confirmed violations count toward your score for 12 months.
How a report is handled
- A homeowner can pause contact from their request page or report a problem to us. Each report gets a case number.
- We tell you what was reported, and you have 5 business days to give your side.
- We decide based on what both sides send us, and tell you the outcome in writing.
Appeals
You can appeal a decision within 14 days by emailing support@betterresources.net with your case number. A different person from the one who made the first decision reviews it, and you'll get a written answer.
Changes to these rules
We'll give pros at least 14 days' notice before a rule change takes effect, unless the change is needed sooner to follow the law or protect homeowners.
